This four-track EP pairs two Deram labelmates at their 1967 peak. Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" is the centrepiece: Matthew Fisher's cathedral-sized Hammond organ, a melody loosely drawn from Bach, Gary Brooker's soulful vocal and Keith Reid's obscure lyric. AllMusic's Richie Unterberger says it did not sound like any previous rock record, a marriage of classical and rock that helped build progressive rock. The flipside, "Lime Street Blues", is an R&B shuffle that Progrography's reviewer rates as slight beside the hit.

The Move's two tracks show the Birmingham band led by Roy Wood: "Night Of Fear", their December 1966 debut single, reached number 2 in the UK, and "I Can Hear The Grass Grow" got to number 5 in 1967. Both were produced by Denny Cordell and sit between freakbeat and psychedelic pop; Record Collector's interview with drummer Bev Bevan calls "Night Of Fear" dramatic and unsettling.

The Australian pressing came out on Deram via EMI (Australia) Ltd, catalogue DEA 1002, part of a short local EP series that also included Cat Stevens and the World of Oz. Beyond discographies, little is documented about this compilation.
